Fast Fixes
Need to de-stress? If so, feel free to make use of the strategies below. I promise you… making use of any of them will shift your energy!
Micro-Meditation- Take just one minute, and breathe slowly and deeply, 3-to-5 time. Exhale slowly through the mouth, with the lips held close as though blowing through a straw.
Mini-Meditation- If you have 3-to-5 minutes, find a place to sit still and listen to one of my brief meditations (link HERE).
Mini-Massage- Fold your arms over your chest, and grasp both of your upper arms. Starting at the top of your shoulder, gently and slowly squeeze and release your upper arms, working your way downward to your biceps.
Music- Store some upbeat tunes in your phone that lift your spirits, and play one or two, as time permit. And if appropriate, move to the music!
Micro-Retreat- Look out a window and find something to appreciate. Keep this sense of appreciation, and breathe deeply and slowly three times.
Mini-Retreat- Step outside for a couple of minutes, and if you’re lucky enough to be near a shade tree or a park-like area, take a minute to breathe deeply, appreciate, and connect with nature. If you aren’t close to something like this, I suggest simply gaze upwards, and take in the beauty of the clouds and sky.
Micro-Sabbatical- For one hour, give yourself permission to steer clear of:
- Negative People
- Negative Thoughts
- Drama- of any kind
- News
Mini-Sabbatical- Do the above for an entire day (as best you can!)
Reconnect- In your next interaction, slow down a bit, look in that person’s eyes, and really see them. Focus on something good or something you appreciate about them. Acknowledge them, with perhaps a small smile or kind word.
Stretch-and-Breathe- Raise your arms straight up above your head, inhaling deeply. Exhale fully while lowering arms by your side. Repeat at least two more times.
